I have fixed many screens. Not by replacing them. By rubbing them. Yes, rubbing. In a specific pattern. It works most of the time.

Let me tell you something first.

Actually There Are Two Kinds of Dead Pixels

One is actually dead. Completely black. No light at all. That pixel is gone forever. Nothing can fix it. Sorry.

The other is stuck. It shows one color all the time. Red, green, blue, or white. That pixel is not dead. It is just stuck. Like a light switch that is stuck in one position. And that one you can fix.

How Does a Pixel Get Stuck?

Your screen has millions of tiny lights. Each pixel has three smaller lights inside. One red, one green, one blue. When all three work together, you see any color.

But sometimes one of them gets stuck. It stays on when it should turn off. Or it stays off when it should turn on. That gives you a colored dot.

This happens because of electrical charge getting trapped. The transistor that controls that pixel cannot switch properly anymore. It needs a little push.

Common Causes of Stuck Pixels

Stuck pixels don’t appear randomly. There are a few common reasons behind them:

  • Small manufacturing defects in the display panel
  • Pressure on the screen from pockets or tight cases
  • Leaving static images on screen for long periods
  • Minor electrical imbalance inside pixel transistors
  • Natural wear and aging of display technology

In most cases, the pixel is not completely broken. It is just not switching properly, which is why it can sometimes be fixed with simple methods.

This Is the Pattern You Need to Use (Fix Method)

Turn off your screen completely. Do not just lock it. Turn it off so the screen has no power at all.

Take a soft cloth. The same kind you use to clean your glasses. Do not use anything rough.

Now follow this method:

  • Small circles (10 clockwise)
  • Small circles (10 counter clockwise)
  • Left to right (10 times)
  • Up and down (10 times)
  • Repeat whole pattern 2 more times

This whole massage takes about 1–2 minutes.

The idea is simple. You are applying gentle pressure to help the pixel reset its internal state.

Turn Your Screen Back On

Check the stuck pixel.

If it is gone, done. If it is still there, do not give up yet.

Turn the screen off again.

Now try a second pattern:

  • Make a cross motion on the pixel
  • Left to right line (10 times)
  • Top to bottom line (10 times)
  • Then circles again

Turn the screen on again.

Sometimes it works in first try. Sometimes 4–5 tries. Sometimes daily for 2–3 days.

Software Method (Alternative Fix)

If manual method does not work, you can try software fix.

Search YouTube for “stuck pixel fixer.”

These videos flash red, green, and blue colors very fast.

This rapidly changing color pattern can sometimes force the pixel to reset.

Software method is safer but usually slower than physical massage method.

Both methods can work, but results depend on the type of stuck pixel.

When Should You NOT Try This Method?

Do not try this if:

  • Your screen is cracked
  • The pixel is completely black (dead pixel)
  • You already tried many times with no change
  • In these cases, the pixel is likely permanently damaged.

A screen protector helps keep dust and dirt out of the crack, protecting your phone from further damage until it’s repaired. If the crack is getting worse, prevent a cracked phone screen from spreading as soon as possible.
